The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) does not limit the number of hours per day or per week that employees aged 16 years and older can be required to work.
All hours over 40 in a work week must be paid at the overtime rate of one and one-half the regular hourly rate. Some states (California, for example) have additional overtime requirements for hours worked per day or consecutive days worked.
