August 9 – 15, 2015, is National Health Center Week.
The Health Resources and Services Administration (part of the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services) wants to remind everyone that even if they don’t have health insurance, they can still receive medical treatment. Federally-funded health centers are located in most cities and in many rural areas, offering health care for a fee that is based on income.
This can be a valuable resource for employees without health insurance.
Health centers provide:
- treatments for illnesses
- pregnancy care
- immunizations and checkups for children
- dental care
- prescription drugs
- mental health and substance abuse care
