SMART Goals

by Deborah Z Mark

.

Does your company set performance goals for your employees?  Do you encourage employees to set their own goals?

You should.

There is a definite link between goal setting and performance.  Studies show that 90% of the time, specific and measurable goals led to to higher performance than non-specific goals.  For example, ask an employee to increase production by 2 units per week instead of saying, “Do the best you can”.

Be SMART with your goals!

  • Specific
  • Measurable
  • Attainable
  • Realistic/Relevant
  • Timely

Being SMART will take your company and your employees to a higher level.

SMART: It’s not just for electronic devices.
