The Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA’s) 2011 summer campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of excessive sun and heat was highly successful.

So successful in fact, that the organization has once again launched a summer outreach program to educate employers and employees about heat related illness. Thousands of workers suffer from heat-related illnesses every year, with heat stroke resulting in death to approximately 30 workers annually.

The Big 3

Remember: provide workers with plenty of water, rest, and shade, to stop heat-related  illness before it begins!

Free App

OSHA is offering heat education materials in both English and Spanish, as well as a training curriculum and a free mobile app that helps employers and employees monitor the heat index at their worksites!

I think that’s really cool!
